Pruning weekend

Here we are, the weekend after Valentines Day, which I have declared as our annual pruning day. The past few years we have enjoyed weather in the 50's, gotten out in the gator and lopped off loads of lower branches on the oaks, intertwining limbs on the fruit trees, at least a third of the growth off the roses, and massive amounts of grape and wisteria vines.

This year, it's in the early 30's, and we are snuggled under blankets and thinking about pruning. I did walk past a fruit tree and notice some buds that had popped out during our foray into the 60's earlier this week. Hope the tree makes it!  We probably will get out there tomorrow afternoon when it's predicted to make it into the middle 40's, a veritable heat wave.

Meanwhile, the seedlings that were planted last week have taken off wonderfully.
