Progress is slow

My last post was October 24, and we had completed trenching for water and electricity to the barn. Construction was due to start the next Monday or Tuesday...best laid plans of man.

Instead, we had an ice storm.

We had open trenches, so before we were able to lay pipes, Becky and I were on our bellies digging the trenches out by hand after they caved in from the ice and moisture. How can something so easy be so difficult!

Thank you, 2020.

The ice storm took out trees and electricity for the entire Oklahoma City area, and put contractors back weeks as they struggled with digging out of the debris caused by the ice. That, of course, set their different projects back while at the same time causing increased costs for lumber and building materials. Oh well.

Long and short of it is that we got our slab poured the third week of January!

And the last Friday of January, in spite of an abundance of January rain, we finally saw some framing go up on the structure - the bones.

Scheduled to complete the bones tomorrow, and maybe we'll have skin by the end of the week!
