365 Project 2022
The 365 Project for 2022
A week or so ago I read an article about improving photography, and one of the suggestions was to embark on a 365 project - to take a picture or set of pictures every day for a year, and see if you made some progress. Well, I didn't have much time to prepare, so popped out the back door on a cold, dreary January 1, 2022, and snapped a couple pics - nothing brilliant, for sure.

That was shot on my Nikon D5100 with the 18-55 lens set on landscape. Again, a yucky day, and the picture shows it. Hard to see the snow blowing, but it's there.
The next couple of days I was out with a pretty nasty cold, and although I was even worse on Tuesday, I had to get out for a Covid test anyhow, so took a stroll on the path (created over the Christmas break when the St. Louis boys were in town to help). This process gave a little more helpful results, as I not only took pictures with different settings, but also scoped out some potential themes to pursue. The following pics show both those subjects, and subsequent photos will not be quite so numerous.

I think the differences are pretty remarkable. Also, I may have the "automatic" wrong on that, now that I look at it. One thing I learned is that more notes are necessary during the process, not relying on my memory. The second pic could be on the portrait setting, now that I look at it more closely.
Following are some other shots from the fourth, mostly for the subject content that is suggested.
Jan 4, 2022 the path...I just like this picture of the path made by Benjamin and Matthias when they were here for Christmas break last week. Caleb did help a little, I guess. |
Jan 4, 2022 the creek and bridge - waiting for a day when there's a roaring stream of water ! |

The other lens I use is a Nikon 55-200 and I did take a few pictures with it, mostly of the flags on posts in the distance; not gonna show those. We'll see how this project turns out.

Missed a couple of days, but got some stunning sunset shots the evening of the 4th before succumbing to a nasty cold that kept me indoors for a couple of days.
